(though really, i should add that i don’t think one should be embarrassed to love someone who doesn’t appreciate you—if anything, i think it demonstrates an enviable capacity for wonder, which ought to be celebrated. it’s just that it hurts, and tends to get in the way of appreciating yourself very much.)
