I’m not sure if there’s any point in saying this

but since I really don’t do politics on tumblr anymore, I don’t need to have a point, do I?

I would (obviously) fucking love to have my student loans forgiven. Getting a degree looked a lot more promising in 2007 than it does now, and I’m more financially unstable than I have ever ever been, and I’m scared. On the other hand: it’s not like I didn’t know what kind of a racket college is. It’s not like I didn’t know that I was paying for my degree was basically a way of asserting that I deserve to be comfortably middle-class. I just didn’t consider that it wasn’t a guarantee. And given that knowledge, I played the game anyway. And I think that’s true of most of the people I know in college: we know exactly what kind of brutal class barrier this place enforces. We’re just surprised at which side of the barrier we ended up on.  So I don’t know how strong a claim of solidarity we can make, with regards to the 99%.
